Artefact Heritage is the leader and most trusted provider of archeological and cultural heritage management services in and around Sydney. Artefact have proudly delivered over 600 projects across NSW a ACT and with such a vast body of work, it was time for a new website to celebrate the amazing company growth. The new website would bring focus to the all projects and the brilliant team of over 30 staff that delivered them.
A tender was put to market for the new website design, which MOBLE successfully won.
MOBLE delivered a stunning website design that seamlessly blended the nerd of code with the bashful introvert of antiquity. We unearthed a timeless design that would give the client a website to span the ages. The Artefact Heritage website not only presents a clean and beautiful aesthetic, but delivered a whole new look and feel that extends across the entire company brand.

MEGA MENU NAVIGATION
With a large website with over 500 pages, there is always a challenge in executing effortless navigation. The aim should be to allow users to browse all pages easily, and via a single click. To focus the navigation through such a large volumes of pages, we conducted two workshops, one for design trends and the other solely concentrated on navigation. The data acquired in the workshop convinced us to design a series of mega menus via the header menu.
The slide down mega menus would use a soft green with a simple bank of links. The Menu Drawer, via the top right hamburger icon, would use the branded green background for clear distinction. We custom coded an outstanding parent and child navigation across two columns, with the third column being used for a dynamic feed of content from content within the child page. The results was a seriously cool menu, that required zero management from the content team. As soon as new pages and content are added, the menu automatically updates itself for a powerful execution that brings peace of mind to our client in terms of ongoing management.
MOBLE's directory platform is now included with all websites from just $9 per month. Our directory allowed us to showcase over 600 projects that are essential in order for our client to win new tenders for Government and Local Government projects. Certain projects in the directory are sensitive to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, and therefore we were considerate as to how much detail to show for each archeological project in the styled Google map. To solve the problem we wrote a script that would restrict the map zoom, when projects related to deceased Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders were in the view port.

During the build we built a lovely relationship with the Artefact team. We invited all 30+ team members to our studio at Jones Bay Wharf in Pyrmont for a profile photoshoot of each team member, with shots used on the team page. It was important to us that all photos would complement the minimal feel of the website, and we introduced subtle tones in the post production to complements the soft greens of the brand.
Each staff member would bring their favourite artefact to the shoot, be it cultural or sentimental, adding a beautiful layer of love and humility to the website, that allows prospective Artefact clients an insight into the educated, inspiring and academic team they might like to have the opportunity to work with.
In addition, we took a series of photographs ‘off-site’ at key locations to ensure the entire website followed the beautiful, washed out, minimal look and feel that is now so characteristic of the Artefact brand.
